StartUP Product‘s insight:

The Agile Business Gap describes the methodology gap between that exists between the origins of an idea or a market insight and the creation of an initial (and ongoing) product backlog of user stories. At it’s core the Agile approaches that we see are software development focused and in most cases anything that is beyond the boundaries of the Product Backlog and a release is largely ignored by any of the Agile methodologies.

“I’m looking forward to discussing how we have applied components of our Product Development Framework to the Agile Business Gap, in a way that embraces the core philosophies of the Agile approach,” states Nick.

April 4, 2013 Silicon Valley Product Management Association (SVPMA) Santa Clara, CA Panel Discussion. (includes additional content provided by speakers)

Global Product Management Talk‘s insight:

What is the API business model?

Its the same as the web biz model –

advertising, selling product, recomendations, satisfaction….

there is NO API biz model (and no santa claus).

If you understand your core biz model – you should wrap your APIs around it = key KPIs

– look for leading indicators, adoption, market share, reach

– Align APIs with that.

No April Fools! There is really no reason for startups not to use the phone.  Typical conversion rates on an online squeeze page is 0.5 to 1%.  Sales developed over the phone are 10 to twenty times more effective.
“You think salespeople have to be super extroverted, but I find that not to be true,” says James. “As long as you can pick up the phone, that’s all that matters.”
James Kennedy, Founder and “growth hacker” at Piehole.tv talks with host, Cindy F. Solomon about how he and his partner managed to grow from a small town on the west coast of Europe to a business that now has thousands of customers spread over 9 timezones.

Silicon Valley is bubbling up with people who have the right ideas and are seeking out customers in contrast to an engineering driven approach of “build it and they will come.” Rich Mironov says “Great product management thinking is to ask “How do we get urgently needed validated ideas and product concepts that customers want to buy before we get down the road in product development?”

“I’m looking forward to a free-wheeling session with passionately opinionated members of the product management community to talk about what’s transpired in the world of product management since the last time I was on the show a year ago,” shares Rich.
